BSDC students celebrate success on results day

Students at Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) were celebrating on Thursday 13^th August after receiving their Level 3 applied, technical, and vocational qualification results. These results mark an important milestone, with many learners now progressing to university, further training, apprenticeships and employment opportunities.

BSDC students once again achieved outstanding results across a wide range of programmes, with pass rates continuing to outperform national benchmarks. The College recorded a 98.4% pass rate for Extended Diplomas (BTEC), with 70.2% of students achieving a DMM profile or higher, equivalent to A*–B grades at A Level. T Level students also achieved a 94.2% pass rate, reflecting the high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement across the College. 

BSDC offers a wide range of programmes, from foundation level through to higher education, including T Levels and apprenticeships. Amongst those receiving their results on the day was Will Evans, who achieved a triple distinction* in Level 3 Film and TV Production and is progressing to study Digital Production at Birmingham City University.

Will said: “Studying a practical course that I’m passionate about has completely changed the way I see education. I’ve grown in confidence, developed my filmmaking skills and had opportunities to connect with industry professionals. I’m excited to continue my journey at Birmingham City University and would encourage others to make the most of every opportunity they’re given.”

Meanwhile, Ellie Wraith, who achieved distinction in her T Level Health and Social Care qualification, is progressing to a degree in Paramedic Science. Ellie said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at BSDC, and the placement opportunities have been invaluable. They gave me real insight into different healthcare settings and helped me decide on my future career. The experience I gained through my T Level has prepared me well for university and confirmed my ambition to become a paramedic, where I can make a real difference to people’s lives.”

For students considering their next steps after receiving their results, BSDC’s University Centre continues to offer an outstanding higher education experience close to home. This quality of provision was reflected in the latest National Student Survey (NSS), where students rated their experience at an average of 97.6% positivity across all survey themes, including 100% satisfaction for Academic Support.
