Damian Hinds writes to NAHT about relationships and sex education

Following a meeting between the National Association of Head Teachers and Department for Education officials, the Education Secretary Damian Hinds has today (9 Apr) written to the unionā€™s general secretary Paul Whiteman to set out his thinking on teaching equalities and on the forthcoming introduction of compulsory education in primary schools.

The letter seeks to reassure Whiteman and the NAHTā€™s members that Mr Hinds ā€œwants to see all schools across the country delivering high quality education that ensures all young people feel included and that ensures that children grow up understanding the value and importance of kindness and respect for others and themselvesā€ and that ā€œconsultation does not provide a parental veto on curriculum contentā€.
