Develop Training (DTL) reach finals for the People in Power Awards.

Nominated in the Best Learning and Development Initiative category for ‘BookIt’ a game changer in the booking system market. Designed and developed by Anne Rogerson, IT Director, DTL working in partnership with Joanne Green, Training & Competence Manager, tRIIO, Gas Distribution Partnership. The multi-functional platform eliminates manual booking, provides real time dashboards of staff and competence to manage the training and development needs of over 3,800 tRIIO staff.

In a joint venture with Morrison Utility Services and Skanska, BookIt was created through the need to fulfil the regulatory abandonment and maintenance obligations of Cadent Gas.

Joanne Green, tRIIO said “The BookIt system has completely revolutionised the way we manage training course, competency and qualifications – it’s the first system of its kind within the industry too and works as a database on a mobile app to provide instantly up-to-date information”.

Joanne added “It has transformed the recruitment and training process and reduced email traffic between the Operations Managers and the training function by over 50% – freeing up valuable management time, the MI information and accuracy of the system have also contributed hugely to cost and time savings, we are absolutely delighted with the results and so proud to have been nominated for this award”.

Anne Rogerson, IT Director, Develop Training Ltd said “BookIt was a hugely complex project but one that we knew would be a total game-changer. It’s been overwhelming to see the impact it has had on the day-to-day business and the benefits it brings. To be nominated for this prestigious award is really the icing on the cake!”.

Other awards include Rising Star Awards, Inspirational Leader Award, Outstanding Contribution to Health, Safety and the Environmental Award, Inclusion Award and Training Provider Award.

The awards recognised the breadth of talent within the power industry and took place at the annual National Skills Academy for Power Conference (NSAP) held recently at The Mere, Knutsford, Cheshire.
