The pioneering online open event held by Coventry’s leading further education provider @CoventryCollege attracted hundreds of prospective students on the first day.

Coventry College moved its annual open event online due to Covid-19 to announce the wide range of courses available from September at the start of the 2020/21 academic year.

The online open event attracted over 500 students on the first day with over 80 live chat conversations taking place with prospective learners.

Former students who have achieved success in a vast range of sectors including performing arts, sport, construction and engineering identified their memories of attending Coventry College.

Staff were available to chat online about the courses on offer which include computing, health and social care, and hair and beauty as well as outline the potential future careers available in each industry.

Debi Donnarumma, Interim Principal & Deputy CEO at Coventry College, said the feedback to the launch of the event has been extremely positive.

Debi said: “The response has been incredible and highlights the hunger for learning is undiminished despite Covid-19.

“It is vital we equip our students with the skills which businesses require particularly as we enter the re-set of our economy and the courses we offer across the board will help them towards their chosen career path.

“We have put together a really informative introduction to life at Coventry College and a video which showcases our amazing resources.

“There is also an opportunity to visit specific subject areas, apply for a place and chat live to staff to get more information about the courses available.

“The online open event will remain on our website for the next few weeks so there’s no need to worry if you weren’t able to join us for the first day.

“There is still plenty of time to apply to start one of our courses in September and we are here to offer advice and make the application process as straight-forward as possible because we know this is an uncertain time.”
