Havering College Career College for Construction was delighted to welcome John Bryson, Head of Academy at L&Q when he recently visited learners at Rainham.

L&Q is one of London’s leading residential developers delivering award-winning mixed-use schemes across London and the South East and a partner on the Barking Riverside project.

As part of their commitment to Career Colleges, L&Q donated a £250 Voucher as a prize to be presented to an outstanding Construction Career College learner.

The recipient was Samuel Sambu, nominated by teaching staff for his dedication to improving his technical construction skills.

This year, Samuel has completed a week long work placement at an architects practise in Brighton, received a Jack Petchey Award and worked with a local charity to improve their surroundings, utilising his hands-on construction, project management and entrepreneurial skills.

Samuel has studied hard and improved his knowledge and confidence significantly this year while undertaking his Level 3 Construction and The Built Environment Course.

On accepting his award Samuel said:

“Havering College has a lot of opportunities for students and never lets your hard work go unnoticed. Me, I was nominated for my dedication and effort, so if you think your hard work is going unnoticed it is not!!”

During his visit, John happily answered questions from Career College learners regarding Barking Riverside and opportunities to work with L&Q in the future.

Paul Mason-Hughes, Career Colleges Lead at Havering College, thanked John for L&Q’s continued support and commitment to the Career Colleges Trust values of encouraging local young people to gain technical skills while being supported by employers – developing the construction workforce of the future.
