JTL shortlisted for ‘Training Resource Provider of the Year’ Electrical Industry Award 2026

JTL, a registered charity and one of the UK’s leading providers of electrical and plumbing apprenticeships, has been shortlisted for Training Resource Provider of the Year at the Electrical Industry Awards 2026, in recognition of the continued development of its LEDA (Learn, Educate, Develop, Advance) digital learning platform.

The Electrical Industry Awards, now in their 34th year, celebrate the best of the electrical sector, including the training resources that support the next generation of skilled workers.

LEDA is JTL’s online learning platform, giving apprentices and tutors an environment that supports high-quality technical education alongside hands-on workshop and workplace training. Apprentices use it to prepare before sessions, reinforce what they’ve learned afterwards, and access resources whenever they need them, helping JTL deliver consistent training across its national network of centres.

Launched in 2022, the platform has grown significantly, particularly over the past couple of years. LEDA now has almost 27,000 users, and access to video content on the platform increased 75-fold between March 2024 and January 2025, reflecting apprentices’ growing appetite for flexible, on-demand learning alongside their practical training.

New additions this year include instructional videos and interactive 3D learning objects covering safe isolation, electric vehicle installations, motor starters and lighting systems, developed alongside a new YouTube channel for the Electrical Apprenticeship Standard. JTL has also fully integrated LEDA with Power BI, giving tutors much richer data on learner activity, classroom participation and achievement, so they can identify and support apprentices who need extra help earlier.

Working with Highfield, JTL has built a dedicated Functional Skills area within LEDA to strengthen English and Maths provision, alongside a wider bank of inclusion resources and accessibility features. The platform also hosts JTL’s Steps to Success programme, covering safeguarding, employability, wellbeing and personal finance alongside apprentices’ technical training.

This year JTL is also introducing six new LEDA Media Libraries: Video, Arcade, Podcasts, Reference, Labs and Support. Developed in direct response to focus groups with apprentices and staff across JTL’s training centres, the libraries bring together video, learning games, podcasts, interactive publications and virtual practice tools in one place. All six are designed mobile first, and are available to employers, colleagues and partners as well as apprentices.

Winners will be announced at a virtual ceremony on Thursday 29th October.

Chris Claydon, Chief Executive at JTL, said:

“Being shortlisted for this award is a brilliant reflection of the progress LEDA has made this year. Our Digital Learning team has worked hard to make sure the platform keeps pace with what our apprentices and tutors actually need, and it’s great to see that effort recognised by the industry.”

Martin Lidyard, Head of Digital Learning at JTL, added:

“We’re incredibly proud to have been shortlisted for this award and especially pleased to see LEDA recognised among such high-calibre fellow nominees.

“We’re continually looking at ways we can evolve the learning experience we provide for our apprentices, and LEDA is central to this, supporting learners not just during their apprenticeship, but with lifelong learning options too. Growing to almost 27,000 users this year, with content now covering everything from EV installations to safe isolation, shows just how much that offer keeps developing.”
