NCFE scoops prize at Federation of Awarding Bodies (@AwardingBodies) awards

Leader in vocational and technical learning, @NCFE, has won the Best Collaboration award at the prestigious annual Federation of Awarding Bodies ceremony in Leicester.

The education charity scooped the top prize in the hotly contested category featuring nominees from Training Qualifications UK and ABMA Education Ltd.

NCFE took home the Best Collaboration trophy for their ground-breaking work with WorldSkills UK on the Centre for Excellence programme. The innovative three year pilot brings together a radical new teaching programme to train teachers and delivery staff in a range of world-class teaching methods and practices.

The scheme has been welcomed by government ministers for its innovative approach to teaching staff in the sector and was highlighted in the Department for Education’s ‘Skills for Jobs: Lifelong Learning for Opportunity and Growth’ White Paper.

Dawn Baker, Director of Innovations and Investments from NCFE, said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to have won the award for Best Collaboration.

“At NCFE we always strive to work collaboratively and couldn’t be happier our work with WorldSkills UK on The Centre for Excellence programme is getting the recognition it deserves.

“It’s fantastic our work is getting this kind of acknowledgement from within the industry. We will continue to build on this momentum to galvanise the education sector and help create a fairer and more inclusive society.”

WorldSkills UK CEO, Dr Neil Bentley-Gockmann OBE, said:

“We are delighted to be recognised alongside NCFE for the important work we are both doing using international best practice to develop world-class educators right across the UK, who in turn will inspire the next generation to aim higher, achieve more and succeed in work and life.”

Tom Bewick, FAB Chief Executive, said:

“This year we received an abundance of excellent nominations for the FAB Awards, all of which were of a very high standard and demonstrated the commitment of our members to learners and the sector. I am immensely proud of how our industry has risen to the challenges of the last two years and I have heard and seen so many examples of excellence demonstrated by individuals and teams pulling together to support one another as well as centres, employers and of course learners.”

The FAB Awards recognises the contributions made by awarding organisations and their employees to education and skills in the UK over the past year. Now in its sixth year, the FAB 2021 Awards dinner, sponsored by Creatio, was held at the end of the first day of the FAB Conference, on 11 November at the Marriott Hotel in Leicester.
