Gaile Grikienyte, Victoria Rusu and Mihaela Tudose and are all due to complete their BTEC in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship this summer.

The Molecular Fizz Academy which is run by Cam and Orbi from Company Drinks, a social enterprise based in Barking Park, invited students from Barking & Dagenham College to join their new academy.

The programme ran over 6 weeks after college lessons and gave students the opportunity to visit other small social enterprises around London to learn more about how they grew them into successful enterprises.

Students were given the opportunity to create their own personalised flavoured drinks and design the labels. At the end of the programme, they pitched their drinks to the owners of Mae J’s Cafe in Peckham.

Their tutor Giuditta Meneghetti said:

“This was amazing opportunity to see how small community businesses are doing what they do best.”

Gaile said” It was a great experience to learn about how soft drinks industry works and that it is possible to have a business with limited resources if you are creative. It made me believe that even with a little experience as long as you are passionate about something, you can turn it into a business.”

The students have been working together on a number of projects independently to raise funds for social events and to donate to homeless charities over their two year course. The trio plan to progress onto level 4 Apprenticeships next year.
