Newtown College Student is Rotary Young Chef Winner

Congratulations to Phillip Beddoes, a 16-year-old student from Montgomery who has won the Rotary Young Chef competition for North Wales and North West.  Phillip is studying a VRQ Level 1 in Catering and Hospitality at Newtown College.

The Rotary Young Chef competition, sponsored by Filippo Berio, is a four-stage national competition with the Finals to be held in Leeds at the end of April.  The competition supports and encourages the development of cookery skills and involves leading industry professionals in the judging process. The final round promises the winner a trophy and cash prize.

Phillip came away from the district competition as the winner with a huge trophy to show for it.  The local Newtown Rotary has supported Phillip in his endeavours and were pleased to catch up with him and lecturer Shaun Bailey at Themes restaurant at Newtown College recently.
