School Leavers Vote NPTC Group of Colleges Best in Wales

Top Award: NPTC Group of Colleges voted best training provider in Wales. TV presenter and personality Tess Daly announces finalists at the ceremony.

School leavers have voted NPTC Group of Colleges as the top training provider in Wales and fifth in the UK as part of The School Leaver Awards.

The awards celebrate the top employers and training providers for school leavers on apprenticeship programmes. It is the largest ranking of employers that offer the best apprenticeship and school leaver opportunities in the UK, and, crucially, helps young people and their influencers make key decisions about their career.

The majority of the shortlists are generated by the feedback gathered from apprentices currently working at an organisation. The nominations include high profile names from the banking and finance world, real estate and property giants, trailblazers in IT & tech and leaders of the legal sector and engineering. All have been nominated due to their ground-breaking work in developing and running school leaver opportunities: Intermediate Apprenticeships, Advanced Apprenticeships, Higher Apprenticeships, Degree Apprenticeships and school leaver programmes.

For the first time this year, there were four awards dedicated solely to training providers, who have been surveyed on their teaching, assessment and feedback, learning experience and personal support.

NPTC Group of Colleges took the top place in Wales for all categories and out of the whole of the UK it was ranked as second for teaching; fourth for the learning experience; fifth in providing personal support and 10th for assessments and feedback.

Jack Denton, director and co-founder of AllAboutSchoolLeavers.co.uk, said:

“We had unprecedented interest in The School Leaver Awards 2019, which marks the 7th year we have conducted the awards and rankings. By opening separate rankings and awards for training providers, we allow young people to delve deeper than ever into what their life could be like as an apprentice. As our rankings are decided by the feedback we receive from apprentices, it really helps young people get a flavour of what it’s really like to work and learn as an apprentice, and who offers the best opportunities.”

CEO of NPTC Group of Colleges, Mark Dacey said:

“To be named as the top training provider in Wales and one of the best in the UK is impressive stuff, but when it’s something that our students have voted for independently, that makes it even more special. We had no input and haven’t spent time applying for this, so this is really great news for us and testimony to the hard work and dedication of the staff at NPTC Group of Colleges.”

The Top 100 Employers and Top 80 Training Providers is based entirely on the opinions of apprentices and school leaver trainees from 100 UK organisations. Apprentices completed surveys analysing everything about their employers and training programmes, from skills development and career progression to training and company culture.
