What will Gower College Swansea be like in the new term?
Principal Mark Jones looks forward to the start of the autumn term, explaining how the College is continuing to ensure that health and safety remains the top priority.
As we near the start of the new term, it seems a good time to reflect on how things have gone so far at Gower College Swansea.
These past two years have been somewhat challenging to say the least, but with the continued commitment from staff and students we have once again celebrated a fantastic year with outstanding A Level results, multiple awards and recognitions – most recently, we have been named the first ever FE College of Sanctuary in Wales.
With the new term now upon us, we continue to follow the post-16 Welsh Government guidance in relation to the College’s safe operation, which is exactly the same guidance as all of our local school sixth forms will be following.
Our teaching teams are busy preparing to resume face-to-face teaching from September for all our students.
We are really looking forward to welcoming both existing and new students to our College community and want to reassure you that we are committed to ensuring your safety whilst on campus. These are some of the measures we have in place.
Hand sanitisation
We will continue to encourage you to wash your hands regularly and use the hand sanitiser provided. Sanitisation points will be widely available across the campuses.
Physical distancing
Whilst there is no specific requirement, we will continue to encourage you to keep a physical distance from others.
Face coverings
Whilst there is no specific requirement, we understand if you would prefer to wear a face covering and would encourage you to do so if you wish.
Testing
We are offering all staff and students a lateral flow testing service if they wish.
Cleaning
We will continue to operate a robust cleaning programme across all our campuses.
Whether you are a returning student, or are joining us at the start of your College journey, we will be sure to offer you the warmest welcome when you arrive, and the commitment to providing you with the highest quality education and supportive student experience.
If you are still undecided about what to do this year, you can still talk to our Admissions team. We have spaces available on a range of full time courses including A Levels, catering, engineering, performing arts, sport, public services and business, just email [email protected]or contact 01792 284000 to find out more.
