From education to employment

Meet Rasin Khayaguli the City Corporation’s business apprentice

Rasin started as a business apprentice with the City of London Corporation in 2019. Rasin is a Level 3 apprentice and his main tasks are to work alongside the Transport Compliance Manager and help ensure the City of London Corporation’s fleet is legally compliant in vehicle legislation.

Throughout his day to day tasks Rasin has managed to learn about transport compliance and vehicle legislation, Rasin has attended the Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme (FORS) – a voluntary accreditation scheme for fleet operators which aims to raise the level of quality within fleet operations.

This has enabled him to help build a relationship with construction contractors throughout the City, who the City Corporation engages with, on best practices for safety on construction sites.

Rasin is already filling up his diary to carry on the progression this year – not only with his course work he will also be doing a course with the Freight Transport Association on transport and legislation and he will complete his 10 courses on the FORS practitioner courses.

Part of the apprenticeship also requires Rasin to shadow other departments to see how their professions work. This has entailed learning cleansing and waste management, enforcement amongst other specialist areas of work that the City carryout and this will be developed alongside his actual role.

During COVID -19 Rasin has supported the department with a recovery plan.
