East Midlands based training provider, CT Skills hosted their first ‘Made in the Midlands’ apprenticeship awards ceremony in both their Nottingham and Derby centres on Friday 9th March.
In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, the awards received over 50 nominations from leading midlands based employers including Farsight Recruitment, J Tomlinson and Trent Barton Buses with managers all keen to nominate their current apprentices through a competitive application process.
An expert panel of judges narrowed down the best entries to 18 finalists and 5 overall winners, with each winner being selected for an award category under the CT Skills core values; Pride, Respect, Accountability, Integrity and Service Excellence.
Respect Award Winner, Chester Ashford who is undertaking a Level 3 School Sport apprenticeship at Nottinghamshire school, The Carlton Academy said; “I believe I am the perfect fit for this award because I have given it my all so far and will continue to do so. My apprenticeship has inspired me to develop from a part-time football coach to a full-time teacher in order to shape the future generations and their attitudes towards sport and education.”
Nottingham City Councillor Georgia Power who presented the awards at the Nottingham Centre said; “I was extremely delighted to present the awards on behalf of CT Skills. The award winners and finalists are very passionate about their apprenticeships and it is great to see what an impact they are making to companies across Nottingham.”
The awards also coincided with the ‘Made in the Midlands’ Apprenticeship Forum which offered support and guidance for keen individuals looking for an apprenticeship within Derby. The forum included a variety of workshops such as a seminar with local employers, discussion with live apprentices and a C.V workshop where individuals gained advice from C.V experts.
Ian West, Manager at J Tomlinson said; “This has been an excellent forum, and awards, I would say to anyone considering undertaking an apprenticeship, the qualification is the most important one you will ever do. At J Tomlinson we are strong believers in growing an individual which is why we line up training programmes with CT Skills that will give the individual the experience to grow within our business.
