EDHEC and the Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CFTE)  have jointly announced the launch of an innovative new Fintech specialisation for Q1 2019.

The new hybrid course will combine online and offline components, allowing students to benefit from the convenience of self-paced online learning and the educational practicality of special group workshop sessions which will allow face-to-face consultations and discussions
with senior course lecturers.

The course will offer EDHEC students a robust understanding of conceptual frameworks in Fintech, and give them an overview of global
trends in ecosystems such as London, Paris, Singapore, New York or Hong Kong. Students will then apply this foundational knowledge of Fintech and work on concrete group projects.

The news marks a new partnership between two global education leaders. The CFTE community spans over 50 countries, while EDHEC is ranked as one of the world’s top three business schools for finance .

A frequent collaborator on higher education projects, the business school has unquestionable industry cachet as evidenced by its International Academic Partners, such as the MIT Sloan School of Management, the London School of Economics and other global institutions.

Michelle Sisto, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies at EDHEC, said “We are delighted to announce the partnership with CFTE in line with our mission to provide top quality academic and industry relevant education. This pedagogical venture ensures our students are not only aware of the technology and players currently impacting industry, but are also able to collaboratively and creatively propose tomorrow’s financial solutions”.

The course is jointly designed by CFTE and EDHEC, and is led by Huy Nguyen Trieu, co-founder of CFTE and Associate Fellow at Oxford,
Professor Laurent Deville, Director of the Financial Economics Track at EDHEC and Janos Barberis, founder of SuperCharger, the largest Fintech Asian accelerator.

The specialisation will start in February with a lecture from Wissam Farah, formerly Head of Global Market Sales at Nomura, MENA Head of Markets at Citi and an EDHEC alumnus.

The partnership follows a precedent set by CFTE and the Ngee Ann Polytechnic in the jointly launched AI in Finance course. The success of
this course coupled with the Around Fintech in 8 Hours’ recent accreditation in Singapore, suggests a similarly promising future for this alliance.

Tram Anh Nguyen, co-founder of CFTE said “We are delighted to be working with EDHEC to launch this first-of-its kind Fintech specialisation. We are very impressed by EDHEC’s willingness to innovate and try new pedagogical methods to keep bringing the best to their students.”

Marking the importance of global collaboration between academic institutions, this partnership was announced at the French Fintech
Revolution conference organised in London by the French embassy.
