After enrolling to undertake A-levels at Cromwell Community College sixth form, Torianne Sharpe quickly realised that the way in which the academic qualifications were delivered and assessed did not suit her learning style, resulting in her take the decision to switch to vocational studies with Cambridge Regional College (@CRC_College). This proved be the best decision for Torianne as she spent the following three years with CRC, progressing from level 3 to level 5 in Sports Studies.

The course content and range of topics is what initially appealed to Torianne, as she felt she was able to gain an insight into the many different aspects of sports enabling her to make an informed decision about how best to progress with her further studies, and ultimately her career. In addition, the opportunity to study for additional qualifications such as Sports Coaching and an Award in Education and Training meant that she was able to equip herself with a range of industry recognised qualifications to support her move into employment.

Torianne shares her experience of studying with CRC,

“I have studied sports from a level 3 diploma to a level 5 Higher National Diploma. I have found the courses enjoyable, with a mixture of practical and theory modules that delivered a full range of skills, ranging from academic writing to personal skills, such as confidence. I felt that this combination of learning through vocational studies would allow me to follow my desired career path of becoming a lecturer.”

Upon completion of her HND, Torianne progressed to Lincoln University to top-up her diploma to degree level, and secured part-time employment with Whitemoor Prison, a role that she hopes will become full-time upon completion of her studies. Torianne added, “The skills and knowledge I gained at Cambridge Regional College enabled me to secure my dream job within the teaching sector, as a prison lecturer.”

“If you are thinking about studying at Cambridge Regional College, I would say don’t hesitate to apply. The College offers a friendly student environment which will push you to achieve your full potential whilst providing support along the way.”
